I don't see the issue here. Both my kids compete in junior shooting competitions, with the understanding that if they're going to shoot them, they're gonna clean them, and that entails breakdowns and re-assembly. So the girl wants to be good at it, good for her.

Sad but true, guns are a way of life in our society and will continue to be for a very long time. If guns are to be owned and stored in a home, it is a very good thing to have the kids of the home educated about them so that they respect them. Too many kids aren't taught about guns and start playing with them when mom or dad aren't home. Just as Meofcourse77 said, this girl is much less likely to accidentally hurt herself or others, because she knows and is being taught to respect firearms.

For gosh sake. Would you people who are so shocked at a young girl knowing how to strip and reassemble a rifle be equally shocked to know, instead, that she could tear down and rebuild an automobile engine? Automobiles kill more people in the US than do firearms.

that was amazing. When I look back, i really wish i would have been taught more about guns. Because right now if some guy tried to kidnap me, even if i had a gun i would have no clue how to work it and would be defensless. this dads done a great job raising his kid.

I do not see why teaching kids about guns is a bad thing? Better they learn about it from their parents and authority figures then to stumble onto one, not know how to handle it, and accidentally shoot themselves or someone else. Gun safety people, not gun ignorance.
